About Us
In 1911, Mrs. Katharine Gibbs, recently widowed with two young sons to raise, sold her jewelry to open her first school, the Providence School for Secretaries. At a time when everyone thought that women could only be assistants at best, Mrs. Gibbs was convinced that women could make an abundant and significant contribution to business. The first school was opened with one student.Today Katharine Gibbs Schools enroll more than 5,000 students a year. The alumni rolls now total over 70,000 graduates. Katharine Gibbs Schools' students take advantage of a wide variety of programs ranging from computer networking operations to graphic design. As Katharine Gibbs herself was a pioneer in her day, so is the educational institute that she founded so many years ago.
